Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 91 LeBLANC, Scott Leon SPECIAL DUTYAREA & PEACETIME Scott was born in Antigonish, NS on January 24, 1974. He joined the Canadian Army in October 1995 and served in Canada, Bosnia and the USA. First, he trained for combat engineering then served on a combat mission in Bosnia from January to August 1998. In 2003, he re-mustered to the Royal Canadian Air Force, trained as a firefighter and served in the area of crash fires and rescue. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration, the Peacekeeping Medal and the Bosnia Medal. Scott and his wife, Nicole Burke, have 3 girls and he has been a member of RCL Isle Madame Branch #150 for 20 years. Submitted by the Isle Madame Branch #150 of The Royal Canadian Legion. LeGARD, Marjorie Dianne Hankinson PEACETIME Dianne was born in Middleton, NS on September 1, 1937 and joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps (Militia) as a pay clerk at 101 Manning Depot in 1956. In January 1957, she joined the Royal Canadian Navy and trained as a navigational plotter. In 1963, she was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant in the CWAC. Dianne was the first woman from the Atlantic Militia area to take the Combat Team Commander’s Course at Base Gagetown and to qualify as a Major. She is currently serving as President of Branch #001. LOMAS, George Arthur WWI George enlisted as Lieutenant in the 197th Regiment in April 1916 and was transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in Toronto. He went overseas in December 1917 and later to France where he saw much active service. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. LOGAN, J. D. WWI J.D. enlisted in the 85th Battalion of the Nova Scotia Highland Brigade on March 2, 1916. He was promoted to Sergeant in July, 1916 and sailed for overseas on October 13, 1916. He served in France at the front from February to October 1917. J.D. was invalided home in February 1918 and discharged from the Army on May 16, 1918.
