He joined the Army during World War II and served in Europe with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. Submitted by the Inverness Branch #132 of The Royal Canadian Legion. MacLEOD, Robert Strachan WWII & SPECIAL DUTYAREA Robert was born in South Haven, New Brunswick on November 8, 1924. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at age 17 and served in Canada and England where he was a rear gunner in Halifax bombers for the Royal Air Force. His crew made 33 successful flights over Europe. In 1947, he joined the Department of Fisheries, spending his career in Baddeck. During his years in Fisheries, he had many adventures, including spending a number of winters monitoring the seal hunt activities aboard the Norwegian sealing boats. One of the highlights of his retirement years was meeting up with all but one of his RAF crew for several happy reunions. Robert was very active in the community and was a member of Victoria-Baddeck Legion Branch #053 for more than 40 years before he died on January 5, 2012. Submitted independently. MacMASTER, Lawrence KOREA Lawrence was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia. He joined the American Army and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Submitted by the Inverness Branch #132 of The Royal Canadian Legion. MacMASTER, Archie WWII Archie was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia. He joined the Army during World War II and served in Italy with the Cape Breton Highlanders. Archie is a member of Captain Angus L. MacDonald Legion Branch #132 in Inverness.
