He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in England, Ireland and Germany during World War II. James died in 2003. Submitted independently. McCHESNEY, Ambrose WWI Ambrose was born to Mrs. A. McChesney on September 16, 1894 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. A meat cutter by trade, he enlisted on December 22, 1914 in Fredericton, New Brunswick and served in France and Belgium as a Sergeant Major with the Canadian Overseas Battalion in the Cavalry during World War I. Ambrose went to the United States after the war, never married, and passed away while living in the States. He was a relative of Clarence McChesney. Submitted by Tracadie & District. McHALE, Gerald L. WWI Gerald enlisted at age 19 on August 5, 1915 in Halifax and sailed for France. He served there for over three years, and through all the heavy fighting, had only one mishap, a broken ear drum. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. McDONALD, Arthur A. PEACETIME Arthur was born in 1938 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He joined the RCRs in 1955 and did his basic training at Petawawa, ON. When the RCR disbanded, he went into the 4th Guards until they disbanded in 1957. From there, he joined the Black Watch and finally joined Finance when the Black Watch disbanded in 1977. He served in the following areas: 3 tours of duty in Cyprus; Werl, Germany from 1955-58; Class “C” Manager, Cornwallis Officer’s Mess from 1959-80; Cornwallis from 1973-79; then to Greenwood. He also served at Base Gagetown. Arthur has been a member of Clementsport Legion Branch #122 for 48 years. Submitted by the Clementsport Legion Branch #122 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
