He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1954 and took his basic training at HMCS Cornwallis. He then served for 25 years as a Naval Engineer on HMCS Prestonian, Penetang, Toronto, Magnificent, Huron, Outremont, Fort Erie, Kootenay, St. Croix, Restigouche, Canadian Minesweeping Squadron, Cape Scott, Annapolis, and Margaree. He also served with the NATO Squadron before ending his career in Cornwallis. Bob has been a member of Clementsport Legion Branch #122 for 21 years. Submitted by the Clementsport Legion Branch #122 of The Royal Canadian Legion. MEAGHER, Allan D. WWII Allen was born in Brook Village, Nova Scotia. He enlisted in the Army during World War II and served in Europe with the Lake Superior Regiment. Submitted by the Inverness Branch #132 of The Royal Canadian Legion. MILLS, Clifford W. WWI Clifford was born on Prince Edward Island. He enlisted in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1914 and was attached to the Field Ambulance Corps after being sent to Valcartier, Quebec. He went overseas with the 1st Contingent and was in France until the war ended. Corporal Mills was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry and devotion to duty in saving the lives of seventeen men and getting them out in his ambulance under heavy fire. He was badly gassed while thus rescuing his comrades and was invalided to England. He was considered no longer physically fit for active service but was retained on the Hospital Staff in England.
