He joined Britain’s Navy in 1953 and served on RMS Himalaya, SS Colon, RMS Strathmore, MV Corncrake and MV Royal Daffodil. Five years later, he joined the Canadian Navy where he was non-commissioned until 1969. He served on HMCS Skeena, Huron, Preserver, and Chaudière and on these bases: Naden, CFFS Halifax, HMS Mercury (UK), OIC Leadership School, Div. Cdr. Boatswain School, CFRS Cornwallis, Maritime Command HQ, CFB Halifax, NDHQ, CFRS Cornwallis, retiring in 1990 as Lieutenant Commander after serving approximately 41 years. The day he retired, he became Cadet Instructor Cadre. From 1990, he was the Commanding Officer RCSCC # 26 Cornwallis for 4 years and in 1994, became the NS Cadet Detachment Commander, Regional Cadet HQAtlantic, finally retiring in October 2000. He now serves with the Navy League of Canada as the National Director for Nova Scotia. Peter has been a member of Clementsport Legion Branch #122 for 41 years. He joined the Army in 1962 and took his basic training at Gagetown, NB. Over a period of 20 years, he served with the 1st Battalion, Black Watch, at Gagetown, RCR London, Ontario, did 3 tours of duty in Cyprus, and also served at Petawawa, and Cornwallis.
