Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 203 WALLACE, William John WWII & KOREA William was born to Jim and Annie (Daley) Wallace in Merland, Nova Scotia on October 2, 1924. He enlisted in the Army on June 15, 1941 at the age of seventeen and served as a Private with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He went overseas in 1943 and served in England, France and Holland. Shell shocked in Holland in 1944, he returned to Canada in 1945. William enlisted for Korea on February 21, 1952 and served until the war ended in 1953. After returning home from the service, he married and he and his wife had one son. William died on April 3, 1963 at the age of thirty-eight. Submitted by Tracadie & District. WALSH, J. F. WWI J. F. was born in Port Hood, Nova Scotia. He enlisted in the Army during World War I and served in France as a Private with the 185th Battalion of the Cape Breton Highlanders. Submitted by the Inverness Branch #132 of The Royal Canadian Legion. WALSH, William PEACETIME William was born in 1931 in Holyrood, Newfoundland. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1951 and took his basic training at HMCS Cornwallis. He then went to Naden, BC to take his Paywriter’s course. He served on HMCSWallaceburg, Portage, Nootka, Columbia, and Algonquin. He also served at these bases: Cornwallis, Stadacona, Bytown, ON, Greenwood, and Avalon and CFS St. John’s, Newfoundland. William has been a member of Clementsport Legion Branch #122 for 41 years. Submitted by the Clementsport Legion Branch #122 of The Royal Canadian Legion. WALSH, Ronald E. WWII Ronald was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia. He enlisted in the Army during World War II and served in Europe with Company A, North Nova Scotia Highlanders.
