Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 19 BENOIT, James S. WWI James was born to Simon and Elizabeth Benoit in Tracadie, Nova Scotia on July 25, 1889. Prior to enlisting to fight in World War I, he had served with the military in the Canadian Field Battery and was also a 25-year old single grocery clerk. He joined the Western 31st Battalion in Calgary, Alberta as a Private on May 17, 1915 and was later killed in action. James was a brother to Rod Benoit of Tracadie and he never married. His name is in the Book of Remembrance in Ottawa. Submitted by Tracadie & District. BIERHORST, Frederik PEACETIME Frederick was born in The Netherlands in 1946. He joined the Royal CanadianArmy in 1965 and took his training at RCR Depot in London. He served in Canada, Germany, and Cyprus. Frank was also the RSM of CFRS Cornwallis. He has been a member of Clementsport Legion Branch #122 for 17 years. Submitted by the Clementsport Legion Branch #122 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BOUDREAU, David J. PEACETIME David was born in 1945 in Minto, New Brunswick. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1962 and did his basic training at HMCS Cornwallis, but ended up at the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1966, taking his Air Force basic training at St. Jean, Quebec. He served for 36 years at: Halifax, NS; Beauséjour, MB; St. Margaret’s and Gagetown, NB; Goose Bay, Labrador; Kamloops, BC; Ottawa, ON; BadenBaden, West Germany; Lagos, Nigeria; and Cold Lake, AB. David has been a member of Clementsport Legion Branch #122 for 27 years. Submitted by the Clementsport Legion Branch #122 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BLANCHARD, Charles WWII & KOREA Charles was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia. He joined the Army and served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in Europe during World War II. He also served in the Korean War. Charles was a member of Captain Angus L. MacDonald Legion Branch #132 in Inverness. Submitted by the Inverness Branch #132 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
