Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 55 DWYER, Daniel Thomas SPECIAL DUTYAREA & PEACETIME Daniel was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia in 1960. He joined the Canadian Navy and was also part of the Merchant Navy, serving for 25 years in Canada, Bosnia and Afghanistan. He was posted to several Canadian Forces Bases, namely Halifax, Moose Jaw, and Gagetown as well as at Military Security Guard Unit Julien in Kabul. Daniel also served on HMCS Nipigon, Miramichi, Athabaskan and Protector. He was a member of New Brunswick’s Oromocto Legion Branch #093 for nine years before he died in 2009. Submitted independently. ELLIOTT, Albert WWI Albert enlisted in the Canadian Ordinance Corps in 1912 and was still with this unit when war broke out. He went overseas on February 8, 1915 and was promoted to Corporal, then to Sergeant, then Staff Sergeant in August, 1918. He was appointed sub-contractor and served in France for a year and a half. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. ELMS, Alexander Benjamin WWI Alexander was born to Mrs. Sarah Simon in Tracadie, Nova Scotia on March 14, 1897. A Teamster by trade, he enlisted with the #2 Construction Battalion in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force in Truro on August 8, 1916 and served as a Private during World War I. Alexander was single at the time of his enlistment. Submitted by Tracadie & District. ELLISON, George Rodney PEACETIME George was born in Alliston, Ontario in 1946. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served for a number of years on the following ships: HMCS Columbia, Margaree, Athabaskan, Nipigon, Skeena, Protecteur, and Huron. He also served at CFFS Halifax, CFRC Halifax, Marcom HQ (Intelligence Section) from 1984-89, and in England from 1978-80 on exchange duties with the Royal Navy in the Weapons Analysis Section.
