Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 5 Project Chairman’s Message As Chairman of this important project, it is truly an honour to present Volume 8 of our Veterans’ Service Recognition Book series on behalf of the Executive Council and membership of Nova Scotia / Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion to honour the lives and deeds of our Veterans. When we began this project nine years ago, it was with more than a little trepidation and nervousness - would our Legion membership, the general public and our local businesses across Nova Scotia accept and support the concept of this book? The answer has been a consistent YES! Since our first edition, copies of this series of books have been sent to all public and school libraries across Nova Scotia and have become a research tool for our younger generations. As Legionnaires, we must keep the spirit of Remembrance alive in the hearts and minds of our youth and the general public. These books are but a small contribution to that effort. I am always amazed at the generosity of the people of Nova Scotia and would like to again thank all the Legion Branches and individuals who continue to honour our Veterans by submitting their biographies and photos (a submission form can be found in the back of this book) and would like to thank all our advertising sponsors for their support of this project. I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Fenety Marketing for their continuing support in the production of these books and together with NS/NU Command, we look forward to issuing Volume 9 in the Fall of 2013. In Comradeship, Steve Wessel Project Chairman
