WWI N.J. enlisted with the 85th Battalion and went to France where he saw severe and extensive fighting at Vimy Ridge. He was wounded at Avion and was sent to England to recover. He then returned to the fighting and was wounded again at Oppy, near Pas de Calais, on Christmas Eve, 1917. N.J. was sent home on June 14, 1918. WWI Walter enlisted with the 6th Canadian Mounted Rifles (C.M.R.) in 1914 and then was transferred to the 5th C.M.R. After six weeks in England, he went to France and won his commission in 1916, instructing infantry battalions. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre for bravery on the field. He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force and served in the 31st Infantry Battalion in France and Europe during World War I. He has been a member of Captain Angus L. MacDonald Legion Branch 132 in Inverness. Submitted by the Inverness Branch # 132 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BEATON, Ambrose J. WWII Ambrose was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia. He joined the Army and served in Italy and Northwest Europe with the Royal Canadian Artillery, 17th Field Regiment. Ambrose was a member of Captain Angus L. MacDonald Legion Branch 132 in Inverness before he passed away in 2008. Submitted by the Inverness Branch # 132 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
