He served with the 185th Battalion of the Cape Breton Highlanders during World War I. Murdock also served with the Princess Louise Fusiliers as a Warrant Officer 1st Class during World War II. He joined the Air Force and served in England on several Royal Canadian Air Force bases during World War II. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration. Donald died in 1963. Submitted by the Whycocomagh Branch # 123 of The Royal Canadian Legion. McLEOD, Cecil R. WWI Cecil enlisted in the 64th Battalion in 1915 and went to England in April, 1916. He transferred to the 25th Battalion and fought in nearly all the engagements such as Lens, Hill 60, Courcelette, Passchendaele and Hill 70. Cecil was wounded twice but rejoined his battalion each time after convalescing. Submitted by the Middleton Branch # 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. McLEAN, Murdock L. WWI Murdock was born in Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia in 1873. He joined the Army and served as Company Sergeant Major with “A” Company, 185th Battalion, Cape Breton Highlanders, in Canada, England, France, and Belgium during World War I. He died in 1953.
