He joined the Army and served with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps in Europe during WWII. Paul has been a member of Captain Angus L. Macdonald Legion Branch 132 in Inverness. Submitted by the Inverness Branch # 132 of The Royal Canadian Legion. POLLOCK, Kenneth Joseph “Ken” PEACETIME Ken was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1931. He joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and served in Canada as Able Seaman on HMCS Sault-SteMarie, HMCS Tecumseh, and HMCS Naden from 1951 to 1956. He did Reserve duty during the Korean Conflict and was part of the Honour Guard for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in Calgary in 1951. Ken has been a member of Peace Legion Branch # 60 for over seven years. Submitted independently. PRICE, George WWII George was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia. He enlisted in the Army during World War II and served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in Italy where he was killed in action. Submitted by the Inverness Branch # 132 of The Royal Canadian Legion. PORTER, William Henry WWII William joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and served as a Chief Engine Room Artificer during World War II. While under the command of Lt. Cdr. G. B. O. Harding RN on January 31, 1942, his ship, the HMS Belmont, was escorting a convoy of British and Canadian airmen to the United Kingdom when it was struck by a single torpedo from a U-boat (U-82- Lt. Cdr. Siegfried Rollmann) 160 miles southeast of Cape Sable. The Belmont sank and all 138 hands, including Chief E.R.A. Porter, were lost at sea. Submitted independently.
