In England, he was transferred to the 24th Victoria Rifles and was wounded by shrapnel at St. Éloi. He spent some time in hospitals in France and England before returning to Canada. He joined the Army and served in England, France, Holland, and Germany with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders during World War II. WWII James was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia. He served as Chief Petty Officer with the Royal Canadian Navy in Europe during WWII. James has been a member of Captain Angus L.
