He served in WWII with the Calgary Highlanders and the Black Watch seeing duty in England, France, Holland, Belgium, and Germany. Alonzo received the Oak Leaf to the War Medal 1939-1945 after being mentioned in dispatches for distinguished and gallant service while serving in Northeast Europe. Alonzo was a member of L’Ardoise Legion Branch # 110 before he passed away in 2004. Submitted by the L’Ardoise Branch # 110 of The Royal Canadian Legion. SCHOUL, Camille WWI Camille served with the Canadian Army Medical Corps during World War I. He was killed in action on September 16, 1916 at The Somme in France during the Battle of Flers-Courcelette. Submitted by the Inverness Branch # 132 of The Royal Canadian Legion. SAMPSON, Simon James “Jimmy” WWII Jimmy was born in 1913 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939 through 1945 and received various medals, including the North Atlantic Star.
