Donald flew with 106 Squadron on a Lancaster bomber and went missing in action on July 28, 1943 during a raid over Hamburg, Germany. No trace was found of the plane or crew. He served as a Leading Aircraftman in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941-45 in Canada and Newfoundland and was an airframe mechanic. Gordon passed away in 2006.
