He was an Able Body Seaman working with the Royal Canadian Medical Corps on the Queen Mary. He also sailed on the Letitia through the Panama Canal, in the South Pacific to Manila. He did over 20 crossings of the Atlantic on the Letitia alone. Lawrence was a member of Whycocomagh Legion Branch # 123 for about 35 years.
