He joined the Army and served with the Canadian Provost Corps during the Korean War. Submitted by the Inverness Branch # 132 of The Royal Canadian Legion. HOGG, Donald Robert “Don” PEACETIME Don was born on October 9, 1939 in Bralorne Mines, British Columbia. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy and Submarines for 25 years in Canada and Belgium, retiring in 1984. He served at Stadacona, Cornwallis, Cape Scott, Shearwater, and HMCS Ojibway, Okanagan, Cormorant, and SHAPE in Belgium. Don was a member of the Corps Commissionaires and the 1st Nova Scotia Highlanders, as well as retired Chief of the East River Valley Fire Department. He was an active member of the Stellarton Lions and Legion Branches # 75 in Eureka, # 28 in Stellarton, and # 133 in Enfield. Don passed away on February 17, 2012. Submitted independently. HURSHMAN, Purney WWI Purney enlisted with the Canadian Engineers on January 9, 1915. He then transferred to the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1916 and served with them from that time on, being promoted to Sergeant Cook on August 2, 1918. Purney was still with the Engineers when the Armistice was signed. Submitted by the Middleton Branch # 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. HOLLAND, Clyde W. WWI Clyde enlisted in the Dalhousie Unit and went overseas on December 31, 1915. He was in France for two years then returned to England, joining the Royal Air Force on December 18, 1917. He qualified as a Flight Lieutenant and was ready for service in France on November 1, 1918. Submitted by the Middleton Branch # 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
