He joined the 185th Battalion and served with the Cape Breton Highlanders during World War I. Submitted by the Inverness Branch # 132 of The Royal Canadian Legion. MacAULAY, John E. WWII John was born in Aberdeen, Nova Scotia in 1925. He joined the Army during World War II and served with the Nova Scotia Highlanders in Belgium, Holland, and Germany. John was a member of Whycocomagh Legion Branch # 123 for 54 years as well as a Past President and Secretary of the Branch for many years. He died in 2002. Serving in Canada and Germany, he was with Gagetown Base Maintenance in 1991 and with the Army’s Canadian Reconnaissance Regiment in 1995. He served in the Air Force with Cold Lake 4 Wing Squadron in 1991 and Greenwood 14AMS in 1996. Dennis was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration and Special Service Metal (NATO) Dennis has been a member of Legion Branch # 110 for seventeen years.
