Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 115 FISHER, Walter Roy WWI Roy, son of Walter and Elizabeth (Bates) Fisher, was born in Berry Hill in 1890 and grew up in Truro working as a meat cutter prior to his enlistment. He was a member of the 76th Regiment, Canadian Militia. Walter enlisted in 1915 and joined the 106th Battalion. He passed away in 1945. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society FITZWILLIAMS, George WWI George enlisted in the 2nd Pioneers on November 12, 1915 and left Halifax for France on December 6. He was promoted to Corporal and then Sergeant on the field for bravery and ability. George was badly gassed and returned invalided to Canada in March 1917. Submitted by the Middleton Branch # 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion FLECK, Elton Pryor WWI Elton was born in South Branch in 1894, son of Alexander and Emma (Andrews) Fleck. He went to the United States to work and served with the American Army in World War I. He and his wife, Jessie, who was from Amherst, Nova Scotia, lived in Providence, Rhode Island.
