He served with the 25th Canadian Infantry Battalion, Canadian Machine Gun Core in Canada and France. He received the King George V Service Medal. Earl passed away in 1961. Submitted by the Parrsboro Branch # 045 of The Royal Canadian Legion GASS, Athelstan WWI Athelstan was born on April 20, 1901 in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. He enlisted at the age of 15 in the Canadian Infantry on March 31, 1916 and served as a Private with the 85th Battalion during World War I. Submitted independently GASS, Blanchard Victor WWI Blanchard was born on August 7, 1897 in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. He enlisted in the Canadian Infantry, “C” Company, on August 15, 1915 and served in Europe with the 85th Battalion during World War I. Lance Corporal Gass was killed in action at Vimy Ridge on April 9, 1917 at the age of 19. Blanchard is buried in the Canadian Cemetery No. 2 at Neuville-St. Vaast in Pas de Calais, France. He is interred at Plot 1, Row B, Grave 38. Submitted independently
