Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 149 HORNE, Bennett John WWI Bennett was the son of Andrew P. Horne and Elizabeth (Benere) Horne of Enfield, Nova Scotia. He served with the Canadian Pioneers Army Unit, 1st Pioneer Battalion. At the age of 24, he was killed on June 6, 1916 in the Battle of Mount Sorrel. He has no known grave, thus his name is inscribed on a panel at the Menin Gate Memorial. Submitted by the Montgomery Branch # 133 of The Royal Canadian Legion HORNE, Leo A. WWI Leo was a member of the 8th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry (Manitoba Regiment). He was awarded the Military Medal for exceptional service to his country and fellow man. Leo was wounded on November 11, 1918 and died from these wounds on November 20, 1918. He is remembered with honour in the Étaples Military Cemetery in the coastal village of Étaples, France. He served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in France and Belgium, returning home in 1918. He was a member of Clementsport Branch # 122 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Carmen passed away in 1982.
