WWI Gunner Johnson volunteered for overseas service at age 19, enlisting with the 10th Siege Battery on April 9, 1918 in Halifax. He sailed for England the following August and was transferred to the Canadian Machine Gun Corps, 3rd Division, before proceeding to France on November 6, 1918. He was at Arras when the Armistice was signed and he returned to Canada on February 17, 1919. Submitted by the Middleton Branch # 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion JONES, Harvey Alan KOREA & PEACETIME Alan was born in 1927 in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces on October 27, 1943 and served as an Air Force Sergeant with the Canadian Air Force from November 1945 to January 1946. He then joined the Canadian Navy as a radar plotter and served on numerous ships: HMCS Warrior, HMCS Athabaskan, HMCS Crescent, HMCS Ottawa, HMCS Ontario, HMCS Uganda, HMCS Stettler and HMCS Jonquière. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer on June 27, 1969 in Ottawa, Ontario. While serving in the Armed Forces in Canada, Korea and England, he earned numerous medals: the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the War Medal 1939-45, the Korea Medal and the United Canadian Forces Decoration with Clasp. Harvey was a member of Esquimalt Legion Branch # 172 before he passed away in 2008. Submitted independently JOUDREY, St. Almore Robie WWI Robie was born on March 18, 1898 and resided in Gold River, Nova Scotia.
