He joined the Army in World War II and served in England with the Cape Breton Highlanders. He was awarded medals issued to those who served. Stanley was a member of Glace Bay Legion Branch # 003 before he passed away in 1985. Submitted independently KEYES, Alva W. WWI Alva was born in Elmsdale, Nova Scotia in 1899. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served with the Nova Scotia Regiment Construction and Forestry Corps in England and Canada.
