He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the France and Germany Star, the 1939-45 Star and the Defence Medal. Burton was a member of Valley Legion Branch # 147 before he passed away in 1997. He joined the Army and served with the Algonquin Regiment, 4th Armoured Division in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the France and Germany Star, the 1939-45 Star and the Defence Medal. Norman was a Life and Charter member of Valley Legion Branch # 147 for fifty-five years before he died in 2011. He joined the Navy during World War II and served on HMCS Saguenay, Bittersweet, Burlington, Haida and Cormorant in Canada and on the high seas.
