Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 203 TOBIN, Richard Francis “Rick” PEACETIME Rick was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 1961. He joined the Navy at 18 and sailed on numerous ships in the rough Atlantic seas and served on many tours of duty. He retired in 2002 and spent a year with his family then began working at the Inn on the Lake as a night auditor. In 2005, he again worked with Provincial Aerospace Limited, first as a sensor operator and later as a member of the training division. His work took him around the world to the Middle East and the Caribbean and back to Newfoundland. One of his highlights was to be assigned tasks that took him to the BC coast during the Vancouver Olympic Games in 2010. Rick was a member of Spryfield Legion Branch # 152 for twelve years before he passed away in 2013. Submitted by the Spryfield Branch # 152 of The Royal Canadian Legion WAGNER, Earle Steadman WWII Earl was born in 1923 in the West LaHave, Nova Scotia. He joined the Canadian Merchant Navy during World War II and served in the North Atlantic, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Captain Wagner was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star, the Pacific Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the War Medal 1939-45, the Jubilee Medal and the Minister of Veterans Affairs Citation, both for volunteerism. Earle was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for sixty-four years. Submitted by the Spryfield Branch # 152 of The Royal Canadian Legion WATSON, Leland WWII Leland was born in 1918. He joined the Army during World War II and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, 65th Army Transport Unit, in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star and the Defence Medal. Leland was a Charter Member of Valley Legion Branch # 147.
