Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 45 BONIN, Joseph Raymond PEACETIME Raymond was born in Discousse, Cape Breton on January 12, 1933. He joined the Royal Canadian Army on November 19, 1951 and served in the Artillery as a gunner. He was honourably released on January 4, 1955 and worked in Ontario for a few years before returning home to Port Royal. He married Viola Mury and they had three children and he worked for seven years as a milkman, delivering milk door-to-door on Isle Madame. He then worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment driver for a local construction outfit in the West Arichat. On December 13, 1980, Raymond and his wife Viola died in a car accident a few miles from their home. Submitted by the Arichat Branch # 150 of The Royal Canadian Legion BOUDREAU, Amédé WWI Amédé was born on January 24, 1896 in Chéticamp, Inverness Co., Nova Scotia. He was drafted under the Military Service Act of 1917 in Saint John, New Brunswick on May 22, 1918. Prior to his death in 1978, Amédé was a member of Chéticamp Legion Branch # 032 where his WWI paraphernalia is on display. Submitted by Colchester Branch # 026, The Royal Canadian Legion. BOUDREAU, Harold J. WWII Harold was born in Pondville, Nova Scotia on June 3, 1925. He joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and the Merchant Marine during the Second World War and was trained as an Anti-aircraft ship gunner. He served in the South Pacific and North Atlantic and was awarded the V.S. Medal 1939-45, the Atlantic Star and the Pacific Star. After his discharge, he married Pat Vinneau and they had two children. Harold was a member of Arichat Legion Branch # 150 for 30 years and served as Sergeant at Arms, Chair of the Poppy Committee and Chair of entertainment. Harold passed away on March 9, 1982.
