Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 47 BOUDREAU, John Lawrence WWII Lawrence was born on July 18, 1916 in Boudreauville, Cape Breton. He joined the Merchant Marine on June 1, 1942 and was an Able Seaman on vessels before he received an honourable discharge on December 20, 1942. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the 1939-45 Star, the George IV Medal and the Diamond Jubilee Medal in 1960. Lawrence married Mary Estelle Boudreau on August 17, 1942 and they had seven children. Lawrence worked at Acadia Fisheries in Mulgrave, sailed on the trawler Acadia Fisher and worked on W.H.M. MacDonald taking supplies to other vessels. Lawrence passed away on July 2, 1992 at the age of 76. He was a member of Arichat Legion Branch # 150 for 25 years. Submitted by the Arichat Branch # 150 of The Royal Canadian Legion BOUTILIER, Arthur Lloyd MacDonald WWI &WWII Lloyd was born in 1895 in England at Burton-on-Trent and came to Nova Scotia as a British Home Child when he was three years old. He served in World War I with the Royal Canadian Engineers, Signals, and enlisted in World War II and served again with the Royal Canadian Engineers, this time as Foreman of Works, Staff Sergeant. He married Marjorie Scott Webster, lived in Middle Stewiacke, and had two sons who served in World War II. Lloyd passed away in 1972. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society BOWERS, Wallace William WWI Wallace was born on April 17, 1898 in Great Village, Nova Scotia. He joined the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on March 25, 1916 at Truro, Nova Scotia and served in Canada, Britain and France. He was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal. At twenty years of age, he was killed in action on September 2, 1918 in France while serving with the 4th Battalion, Canadian Machine Gun Corps. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial at Pas de Calais, France. Submitted by Colchester Branch # 026 of The Royal Canadian Legion
