Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 49 BOYCE, Charles Hilton WWI Charles was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia in 1895, the son of Ernest and Flora Boyce. He enlisted in the Army in 1916 and went overseas. He liked horses so he was posted to # 10 CRTC. He was then transferred to 150th Battalion with Mule Trains, hauling ammunition to the Front. He was discharged in 1919. Charles passed away in 1992. Submitted by Colchester Branch # 026 of The Royal Canadian Legion BOYCE, Ernest Edward Elliott WWI Ernest was born on December 15, 1868 in Sackville, New Brunswick. On September 16, 1915, he joined the Active Militia No. 8 Canadian Army Service Corps. He was promoted to Sergeant on December 1, 1915 and was put in charge of the Quarter Master’s Store. On November 18, 1918, he joined the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force and found himself in charge of a prisoner of war camp near Amherst. He was discharged from the service by reason of Demobilization on April 25, 1919 at Halifax. Ernest passed away at the Colchester Regional Hospital on November 4, 1956 and is buried in the Robie Street Cemetery. He joined the Army during World War I and served with the 193rd Battery and the 85th Battery in Canada and France where he was wounded at Vimy Ridge in April 1970.
