He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada, France and England. He has been a member of I Arras Legion Branch # 059 for thirty-six years. He served as President for two years, was Zone Five Commander for three years, is a Life Member and was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. Submitted by the Arras Branch # 059 of The Royal Canadian Legion BRENTON, Byard Fraser WWI Byard, born in 1895, was the son of Alexander and Annie (Jeffers) Brenton of Birch Hill. He enlisted in July 1917 with the Nova Scotia Regiment and served in Canada, England and France. He married Gertrude Archibald of Pleasant Valley and resided in Birch Hill, then in Brookfield for a while and then in Ontario. Byard passed away in 1972. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society BRENTON, Frank Howard WWI Frank, son of Alexander and Annie (Jeffers) Brenton of Birch Hill, was born in 1892 and went to the United States where he enlisted in the American Army.
