He served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I. Carroll passed away in 1937. Submitted by Middleton Branch # 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion BROWN, Gilbert Parks WWI Gilbert was born in West Springhill, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia in 1895. He served with the Canadian Army in World War I, and returned home in 1918. Gilbert passed away on June 30, 1963. Submitted by Middleton Branch # 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion BROWNELL, Alva Edison WWI Alva was born in Northport, Nova Scotia in 1891. In 1914, he joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force of the 84th Battalion of Nova Scotia and was sent to England after completing his basic training. He served in Scotland and France then returned to Canada in 1919, bringing with him a Scottish Bride and a baby daughter. Alva received the Bronze Service Medal 1914-1919 and the George V Silver Medal 1914-1918. He was a member of Amherst Branch # 010 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Alva passed away in 1965.
