Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 69 CHUTE, Walter Leslie WWI Walter was born in 1897 in Bear River, Nova Scotia, the son of Charles Leslie and Margaret (Davidson) Chute. The family moved to Middle Stewiacke in 1913. Walter was living in Arizona in 1918 and enlisted in the American Army. In 1931, after the death of his brother, Colin, he came back to Middle Stewiacke and took over the family farm. Walter passed away in 1967. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society CLARKE, Richard WWI Richard was born on August 10, 1882. He enlisted on September 27, 1915 and served with the 2nd Canadian Pioneer Battalion. He sailed for France on December 6, 1915 and was killed in action as a result of a bullet wound to the abdomen on April 22, 1916. Submitted by Donkin Branch # 005 of The Royal Canadian Legion CLASSON, John Wilson WWI John Wilson Classon served in World War I in the British Expeditionary Forces and was killed in 1914.
