Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 81 COPE, Joseph WWI Joseph was born in 1869 in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia and he served with the 106th Battalion during WWI. He married Sara Tracy of Windsor Forks, Nova Scotia in 1898 and later became the father of four sons and three daughters. Joe passed away in 1934 in Truro, Nova Scotia. Submitted by Colchester Branch # 026 of The Royal Canadian Legion COX, Andrew Thomas WWI Andrew, son of Samuel Cumminger and Anna Maude (Dean) Cox, was born in 1898 in Upper Musquodoboit then later moved to Newton Mills. His attestation paper states that he was in the Active Militia at Fort Ogilvie in Halifax then became a member of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1918. In later years, Andrew lived in Florida. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society COX, Douglas LeRoy “Doug” PEACETIME Doug was born in 1932 in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia. He joined the Canadian Navy in 1949 and served on HMCS Crescent, HMCS Saguenay, HMCS Gatineau and HMCS Cap-de-la-Madeleine in Canada and on the high seas. He was also posted at Cornwallis and Stadacona, Nova Scotia; Gloucester, Ontario; Alert, NWT and Gander, Newfoundland. Doug has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 61 years, 38 of which has been with Colchester Branch # 026.
