He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Artillery on October 9, 1941 at Halifax, NS. He took his artillery training in Petawawa, Ontario. On November 3, 1941 he was posted to Halifax. He arrived in the United Kingdom on January 20, 1942. He embarked the United Kingdom on July 4, 1944. He disembarked France on July 7, 1944. He was killed in action on July 14, 1944 at age 26. He is buried at Beny-Sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery in France, Lot IX-E-13. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and War Medal. He was born in June 1886 and baptized at St. Joseph’s Port Felix on June 12, 1886. The date of birth given on the 1901 census is July 12, 1887. He served during the First World War with the 25th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He married Felicia Fougere and they raised 7 children together. Hubert died July 30, 1956 at 70 years of age and is buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Port Felix. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch # 117 of The Royal Canadian Legion LEVANDIER, Dennis Simon WWI & WWII Dennis was born on April 30, 1889 to Philip Levandier and Bridget Gerrior of Port Felix, Nova Scotia. He served in WWI where he was injured and he also served in WWII. Dennis married Nellie George, daughter of Thomas George & Margaret Richard of Port Felix. They raised 7 children. Dennis died September 9, 1974 at Camp Hill Hospital in Halifax and is buried in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service.
