Dr. Akin enlisted May 14, 1943 with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps serving in Canada. He was discharged July 4, 1946 as a Captain and received the CVSM. He was a member of the Hants Co. Legion Branch # 009 for 60 years. Frederick passed away in 2011. Submitted by the Hants Co. Branch # 009 of The Royal Canadian Legion ALLEN, Glen Lorraine WWII Glen was born in May 1923 in Melanson, Nova Scotia. He joined the Canadian Army in 1943. He served with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry in the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe. In 1944, he was wounded and captured, being held as a Prisoner of War for six months. He returned to Canada in1945, and worked for Kings County School Board as an Industrial Arts teacher for twenty-nine years. Glen passed away on December 12, 1999. Submitted by the Lumsden Branch # 074 of The Royal Canadian Legion ANDREW, Jack WWII Jack was born in 1920 in Horbury, United Kingdom. He served on destroyers and submarines throughout World War II with the Royal Navy in the UK, the Far East and the Atlantic. Jack received the 19391945 War Medal (Victory Medal), African Star, Italy Star and the Atlantic Star. He also received the Long Service-Good Conduct Medal from the UK.
