He joined the Canadian Army on September 20, 1939 and served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders; the Princess Louise Fusileers (M.G.), Canadian Active Service Force (C.A.S.F.) and Essex Scottish. Vic passed away on May 5, 1969 and is buried at Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. He served in the Army with the Royal Canadian Service Corps, 38th Motor Ambulance Company in Korea during the Korean War. He received the Korean War Medal, UNS Medal and the Korea Government Medal. He was a member of the Colchester Legion Branch # 026 for 50 years before he passed away in 2007. Submitted by the Colchester Branch # 026 of The Royal Canadian Legion McLAUGHLIN, Charles Leander WWII Charles was born on November 9, 1908 in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. He enlisted on April 12, 1943 at Halifax, NS. He served with the Pictou Highlanders and the West Nova Scotia Regiment. His tour of duty included Canada, United Kingdom and Italy. Charles was killed in action on May 23, 1944 at age 35. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and clasp, and War Medal.
