Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 125 MONTGOMERY, Thomas Robinson WWII Thomas was born in 1925 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He served in the Army with the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division and the 17th Duke of York’s Royal Canadian Hussars during the Second World War. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Northwest Europe, Germany, Holland, Belgium and France. He was awarded Long Service, Exemplary Service, Montreal Urban Police Department and the Knight of the National Order of Legion of Honor of France. Submitted by the F.E. Butler Branch # 044 of The Royal Canadian Legion MORRISON, Lewis Nelson WWI & WWII Lewis enlisted in the Canadian Army Medical Corps in Halifax on November 3, 1915 and served in France and Flanders. He was the son of Dr. Daniel and Mrs. Bessie Morrison. Lewis was born in Freeport, Digby County and graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in 1925. Dr. Morrison moved to Mahone Bay in 1926 where he became a charter member of Branch # 049 Mahone Bay of the Royal Canadian Legion. In 1937, he accepted a position with the Canadian Steamship Lines and sailed on the SS Lady Hawkins. Dr. Morrison was aboard the Lady Hawkins when it was torpedoed by U-66 and sank on the early morning of January 19, 1942. He became the first man from Mahone Bay to die during World War II and is commemorated on the Mahone Bay Cenotaph and the Halifax Memorial. Submitted independently MUISE, Antoine Z. WWII Antoine was born on July 5, 1920 in Sluice Point, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. He served as Gunner during World War II, being stationed in Newfoundland. Antoine passed away on July 22, 2002.
