Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 11 ANDREWS, Ernest Eugene WWII Ernest was born in Port Morien, Nova Scotia on March 15, 1915, the son of Harry and Margaret (Smith) Andrews. He was a Gunner in the Army from 1942 to 1943, serving in Halifax. He was discharged for medical reasons. Ernest married Clara MacQueen of Port Morien. Ernest passed away on October 15, 1974. Submitted by the Port Morien Branch # 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion ANDREWS, Herbert “Herbie” WWII Herbie was born on July 9, 1906, the son of John and Sarah Jane (MacDonald) Andrews. He was a member of the Army Provost Corps (Military Police) during the Second World War. Herbie married Ethel MacLeod. Herbie passed away on February 19, 1982 Submitted by the Port Morien Branch # 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion ANDREWS, Roderick James “Roddie” WWII Roddie was born on March 20, 1913, the son of John and Sarah Jane (MacDonald) Andrews. He served in the Army Provost Corps with the Military Police from late 1941 to 1943, while stationed in New Glasgow. He married Allura Jardine of Florence. Roddie was an avid sportsman and fought in several amateur boxing matches while in the army. For many years, he was the owner, trainer and driver of many well-known race horses, such as Purple Valley and Prairie Pete. Roddie passed away on April 8, 1989.
