Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 135 MYERS, Stanley Windfield WWI Winfield was born in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia on June 3, 1894 and was the son of Frederick L. Myers & Margaret Catherine Gillie. He served in the First World War with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He married Ada Emelina Smith and they raised 3 children. Winfield died on October 10, 1973 at the age of 79 in Saint John, New Brunswick. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch # 117 of The Royal Canadian Legion NICHOLS, Frederick Arthur WWII Frederick was born on April 15, 1921 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He served in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada an Overseas. He died as a result of a flying accident on January 30, 1944 while serving with the 22 Operational Training Unit in England. He received the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the 1939-1945 War Medal. He also received the Wireless Operator’s Badge on July 12 1943 and the Air Gunner’s Badge on 23 August 1943. He was awarded the RCAF Operation Wings in recognition of gallant service, for completing a tour of operational duty in action against the enemy. He served in the Army with the 40th Battalion Expeditionary Force and the 9th, 12th, and 4th Machine Gun Company Brigade. He served in England, France (Vimy), Passchendaele, The Somme and in Canada.
