Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 137 NICHOLS, Sidney John WWII Sidney was worn in 1919 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on October 2, 1941 during the Second World War. He served in Canada and in England. He was posted to Britain from November 1941 to March 1944. On June 28, 1944, Sidney was honourably discharged as a Private. He received the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the 1939-1945 War Medal. Sidney passed away in 1963. Submitted by the Debert Branch # 106 of The Royal Canadian Legion NICKERSON, Allison Morton WWII Allison was born on October 28, 1915 in Port Latour but spent much of his adult life in Clam Point, Cape Sable Island. He enlisted with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in September 1939, and following training in Aldershot, he went overseas in December 1939. Allison traveled much of England, France and Scotland before being posted to Italy where he would spend the next fourteen months participating in the Sicilian and Italian campaigns, returning home in 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #148 until his death in May 2000. His body rests in the Atlantic Cemetery, Stoney Island. Submitted by the Cape Sable Branch # 148 of The Royal Canadian Legion NICKERSON, Charles H. WWII Charles was born in Barrington Passage in 1919. He served with the R.C.A.F. from 1941 to 1946. He served in New Brunswick, Quebec, Nova Scotia and was posted overseas serving in Yorkshire, England as an airframe mechanic on Lancasters at bomber command. After two and a half years, he was posted back to Dartmouth for two and a half years. He attained the rank of Corporal. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, both the Chester and Cape Sable Branches for over 50 years. He passed away in June 2004.
