Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 145 PEITZSCHE, Ralph Giffin WWII Ralph was born on December 25, 1913 in Goldboro, Nova Scotia to James Meadows and Bernice Chetwyn (Giffin) Peitzsche. Ralph married Dorothy (Spittle) and they raised three daughters and one son. His wife passed away 1992, a daughter in 2001 and another in 2005. Following the demise of his mother, Bernice, when he was only four, he was raised by his mothers’ brother and wife William & Mae Giffin. Ralph enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders also known as the North Novies Engineers unit. Ralph served overseas for five years seeing action in Britain, France, Belgium, Holland and Italy. He was severely injured wounded in action in Italy. Ralph passed away on October 27, 2010. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch # 117 of The Royal Canadian Legion PELERINE, David George Frederick WWI David was born in Larry’s River, Nova Scotia on December 15, 1879. His father was George F. Pelerine. David was 37 years old when he signed up for duty in the Canadian Active Militia in Halifax, NS on September 8, 1917. He was a single man and was employed in the Hotel business at that time. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch # 117 of The Royal Canadian Legion PELERINE, Stephen Clement WWI & WWII Stephen was born in East Port Felix, Nova Scotia on June 10, 1895 and was the son of Pascal John Pelrine & Mary Victoria Bellefontaine. He served in World War I with the Princess Louise Fusiliers and then also served in World War II. He was a fisherman by trade and single at the time of recruitment at Aldershot, NS on June 6, 1918. He was 22 years of age. Stephen died in 1965 at 70 years of age in the Camp Hill Hospital in Halifax and is buried in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Havre Boucher, NS.
