He enlisted with the Army in 1939 and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers at various stations in Canada. He was discharged in 1945, after which he was employed at Camp Aldershot until his death in 1962. Submitted by the Lumsden Branch # 074 of The Royal Canadian Legion RANKIN, Ian WWII Ian was born on September 1, 1911 in Port Morien, NS. He was the son of England and May Rankin. He graduated from the Officers Training Center in Brockwell, Ontario on July 11, 1942. He served in Prince Rupert and St. John’s, NL from 1939 to 1945. He was married to Florence Landry. Ian passed away on November 18, 1998. Submitted by the Port Morien Branch # 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion RICHARD, Edward F. KOREA & VIETNAM Edward was born in Warwick, Rhode Island, USA in 1948. His parents, Edward F. Sr. and Regina (Avery) Richard, were from Larry’s River, NS. Edward Jr. was a 21 year army veteran. He served one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He was married to Doris K (Browning) Richard for 40 years and they had three daughters. He was buried with military honors in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter at the age of 62.
