Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 163 RICHARD, Harry Nelson PEACETIME Harry was born in Charlos Cove in 1945 and is the son of the late Johnny & Lavina (Richard) Richard. Harry graduated from Guysborough Municipal High School in 1964. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1965 as Marine Engineering Technician re-muster to Refrigeration Technician in 1971. During his career he was posted to HMCS Margaree, HMCS Ottawa, CFS Alsask, CFS Barrington, CFB Moose Jaw, CFB North Bay, CFB Chilliwack, CFS Shelburne, CFB Borden, CFB Halifax, CFB Greenwood, CFB Ottawa NDHQ, and Camp Aldershot. Harry retired in 2000 after 35 ½ years of service. Harry is married to Sharon (Langille) Richard and they raised 2 sons. Harry was a member of Torbay Branch in the early 70’s. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch # 117 of The Royal Canadian Legion RICHARD, Joseph “Josie” WWII Josie was born in 1913 in Charlos Cove, Nova Scotia to the late Timothy and Vennie (Pettipas) Richard. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Royal Canadian Navy until 1945. He engaged in the salmon fishing industry in BC until his retirement in 1974. He was 62 years old when he passed away on February 8, 1975. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch # 117 of The Royal Canadian Legion RICHARD, William Amos WWII Billy was born in Charlos Cove, Nova Scotia on December 5, 1915 and was the son of William and Alice Richard. He married Margaret Louise Pellerin. He enlisted in the Army on July 30, 1942 as a Craftsman and served in the North Atlantic area. He was honourably discharged on February 13, 1946. He was a member of Branch # 095 and Torbay Branch # 117. Billy passed away at the age of 79 on May 17, 1994 in St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish and is buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Charlos Cove, NS.
