Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 167 RUSHTON, Layton WWII Layton enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in Truro, Nova Scotia on January 12, 1943. He went overseas in March, 1944 and was wounded in action on October 13, 1944. Layton was discharged when he returned to Canada on March 8, 1946. Submitted independently RUSSELL, Lloyd G. WWII Lloyd was born in Digby, N.S. in 1921 and later moved to Lunenburg County and took up residence in Mahone Bay, N.S. During the war, Lloyd served in England, France, Belgium and Germany with the RCEME. Lloyd was Past President and Life Member of Branch # 049, Mahone Bay until his death in 2005. Submitted by the Mahone Bay Branch # 049 of The Royal Canadian Legion SAMSON, Daniel J. WWII Daniel was born on September 23, 1916 in Louisdale, Nova Scotia. He served in the Canadian Army with the No. 6 District Depot on Canadian soil and received an honourable discharge after the end of World War II. After his military service, he returned home to Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1945 where he worked at the local Steel Plant until his retirement on September 23, 1979, followed by his sudden death 6 months later. He was married to Ann (née Kiley) and raised a family of seven children. Submitted independently
