Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 181 SMITH, Wyman WWII Wyman was born in 1921 in East Wentworth, Nova Scotia in a military family of 4 (3 boys and 1 girl). His father was in the Army and Wyman and one brother followed in their father’s footsteps while the other brother went in the Navy. Wyman was involved in D-Day in Normandy and was awarded the Rank of Knight of the French National Order of the Legion of Honour. He was also awarded the 1935-1945 Star, Italy Star, George VI DG BRMN FD IND France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer 1939-1945, Voluntary Service with Bar, Holland 1945-2005 with Bar, and Holland 1945. Wyman has been selected to go on the Italian Pilgrimage in Italy on November 22-30. He is really looking forward to this. He has been a member of the Peace Legion Branch # 060 for 58 years. Submitted by the Peace Branch # 060 of the Royal Canadian Legion SNOW, James S. W. Sr. WWII James was born on August 2, 1918, the son of Jacob and Christina (Woods) Snow. He served with the Cape Breton Highlanders. James was married to the former Annie Clements. He was killed in a mining accident on March 20, 1972, and is buried in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Black Brook, Port Morien, NS. Submitted by the Port Morien Branch # 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion SNOW, William Wood WWII William was born on March 30, 1912 in Donkin, Nova Scotia, the son of William T. Snow and Christine Sutherland Snow. He served during WWII from April 27, 1942 to March 4, 1946. He was stationed in Canada, and was a private. He trained for active duty and was a military bandsman. Following his service, he enjoyed playing in the Donkin Citizens Brass Band. He received a Life Membership from Branch # 055, The Royal Canadian Legion. He married Christine Pearl MacDonald. After the war, he worked in several coal mines. William passed away on June 29, 2003 and is buried at St. John’s Cemetery, Black Brook, Port Morien.
