Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 189 SWAINE, Roland “Judson” WWI Judson was born in Canso, Nova Scotia on February 6, 1893 to the late Emily “Emma” of New Harbour and Samuel I. Swaine of Canso. He enlisted on August 10, 1915 and served with the 25th Canadian Infantry Battalion, Nova Scotia Regiment. Judson was killed in action on April 14, 1916 at the age of 22. He is buried in Ypres, (Menin Gate) Belgium. He will be remembered and respected for which he made the supreme sacrifice. He enlisted in the Army and served with the 8th Canadian Brigade, 3rd Division overseas. He served during World War II in Belgium, Holland, France and Aldershot, England. For his service, he received the 1939-1945 Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, 1939-1945 War Medal. He is a member of the River Hebert Legion Branch # 014. He lives at East Cumberland Lodge in Pugwash, NS. Submitted by the Peace Branch # 060 of The Royal Canadian Legion TERRIF, Ralph WWII Ralph was born in 1922 in Springhill, Nova Scotia. He served in New Glasgow, NS; Borden, Ont.; France, Italy and Sicily with the Army during the Second World War. He was a member of the 13th Field Company out of Calgary that he joined in England. He was awarded the France and Germany Star, the War Medal 1939-1945, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Italy Star. Ralph is a Life Member of the Springhill Legion Branch # 017 for 45 years.
