He was the son of James and Martha (Curry) Thomas. During WWII, he joined the Merchant Marines, and worked as a fireman from 1942 to 1945. He was married to Hennerita Kendall. He was a fisherman most of his life. John passed away on April 8, 1994 and is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Morien. Submitted by the Port Morien Branch # 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion THOMAS, Joseph Stephen WWII Joseph was born on March 7, 1918 in Port Morien, Nova Scotia, the son of James and Martha (Curry) Thomas. He was a seaman in the Merchant Navy during WWII, working as a stationary engineer. He sailed on the Panchito, the SS Rockwood Park and the Rose Castle. He married Elizabeth (Fortune) Thomas. After the war, he worked in the coal industry. He was a member of Branch #055, The Royal Canadian Legion, Port Morien. Joseph passed away on April 17, 1995, and is buried in Forrest Haven Memorial Gardens. Submitted by the Port Morien Branch # 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion TIMMONS, Eric Thomas WWII Eric was born on May 8, 1921 in Port Morien, Nova Scotia, the son of Alfred and Bessie (MacLean) Timmons. He served in the Royal Canadian Army from May 1941 to November 17, 1942 at Petawawa, Ontario and Halifax, NS. He married Shirley Drinkwater from Glace Bay.
