Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 197 ULOTH, James Reginald “Reg” WWII Reg was born in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia on March 9, 1924. Reg is a World War II Veteran. He was a Private with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders and part of the Canadian Infantry’s 3rd Division – landing on Normandy Juno Beach in July 1944, after training in Halifax. Shrapnel from an explosion hit Reg, injuring his leg and his femur. “It blew out four inches of my left femur, and I had to have a disc removed.” Reg was treated in a British hospital before being sent back to Canada. “Then it was back to hospitals,” he said. After recovery in Canada, Reg enrolled in a business course and found work with Eastern Light and Power in Sydney and the Dept. of Transportation in Guysborough. He became a radio technician in Ecum Secum before transferring to Morristown. Reg now resides in Antigonish and was a member of the Torbay Branch. He is now a member of Arras Br. 59 in Antigonish. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch # 117 of The Royal Canadian Legion WADDEN (MOONEY), Margaret Daisy WWII Daisy was born on May 27, 1924, the daughter of Thomas and Philomena Wadden. She served in WWII in Holland. Daisy married Barney Mooney. Daisy passed away on July 16, 2000 and is buried in Windsor, Ontario. Submitted by the Port Morien Branch # 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion WADDEN, Alexander Roy WWII Roy was born on August 6, 1919 in Port Morien, Nova Scotia, to Walter and Agnes (Wilson) Wadden. He served as a corporal with the Royal Canadian Army in England, Italy, and Western Europe from 1941 to 1945, as a member of the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He received the Italy Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, as well as the France and Germany Star. After the war, Roy worked as a mechanic and later became full-time paid Fire Chief of Glace Bay Fire Department, the first to hold this position. He was a member of John Bernard Croak VC Branch # 003, The Royal Canadian Legion, Glace Bay. He married Mary MacIntosh. Roy passed away on October 26, 1998.
