He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve in 1942, serving in Canada, the United Kingdom and the North Atlantic until his discharge in 1945. He returned to civilian life after the war and then enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1950, where he remained until his retirement in 1972. Frank was a member of Centennial Branch #160 from its beginnings in 1967 until his death in 1974. Submitted independently WHITFIELD, Allen Martyn WWII Allen was born in 1912 in Nictaux Falls, Nova Scotia. He enlisted in the Air Force on September 16, 1942 during World War II. He served with the 86th Brigade Company in Canada, the UK and Continental Europe and was discharged on March 27th, 1946. Allen was awarded the 19391945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, CVSM and Clasp and the Liberation of Holland. He was a member of the Lawrencetown Legion Branch # 112 for 57 years before he passed away in 2003. Submitted by the Lawrencetown Branch # 112 of The Royal Canadian Legion WILE, Frederick Elkanah WWII Fred was born on July 24, 1913 in Mount Denson, Hants County, NS. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy on June 1, 1942 as a stoker. He served on convoy ship HMCS St. Francis. He was discharged on September 6, 1945 from Peregrine. Fred had identical twin brothers, Cecil Deal Wile and Lawrence “Larry” George Wile, who served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. Fred passed away on April 3, 1970.
