Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 211 WILLIAMS, Clyde C. Korea Clyde was born on February 17, 1927 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He served the Royal Canadian Navy aboard HMCS Nootka as a Trade Radar Technician in Korea and Canada. He was honourably discharged in 1948. He worked at HMCS dockyard on retirement. He was awarded the CD and clasp, and the Korean Medal. He was a member of Elmsdale Branch # 048, The Royal Canadian Legion, serving as President, Sports Officer, and Bar Manager. Clyde passed away on May 7, 2003. Submitted by the Elmsdale Branch # 048 of The Royal Canadian Legion WILLIAMS, Leland Charles WWII Leland was born in Dort’s Cove in 1925 to Henry and Elizabeth (Uloth) Williams. Leland was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with RCNVR, on board HMCS Eastview. Leland made seven full trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Newfoundland to Ireland and returned. Leland was a member of Guysborough Branch # 81 for 55 years. He was also a recipient of many community citations, including the Meritorious Service Medal from The Royal Canadian Legion. Leland passed away on September 25, 2009 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Guysborough. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch # 117 of The Royal Canadian Legion WILMOUTH, John F. WWII John was born on August 9, 1919 in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. He joined the Pictou Highlanders in September 1939 at Stellarton. His theatres of war include Canada, United Kingdom, and Italy. On January 16, 1940, he was posted to Aldershot, NS for training. From there, he went to Halifax for overseas duty. He arrived in the United Kingdom on May 22, 1940, and was posted to Aldershot, England, with the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He disembarked in Sicily, Italy on July 10, 1943. John was killed in action during the fighting just below Casa Berardi, during the Battle of Ortona on December 14, 1943, at the age of twenty-three. He is buried at Moro River Canadian War Cemetery in Ortona, Italy: Lot I-D6. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, C.V.S.M. and clasp, and the War Medal.
