Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 25 BISHOP, Gary Hallett RCMP Gary was born on January 17, 1946 in Andover, New Brunswick and moved to Woodstock, NB where he attended school (graduated 1965) and now considers home. He joined the RCMP on September 23, 1965 in Fredericton and graduated from “Depot. Div” in Regina, Saskatchewan in April 1966. He was first posted in the “H” Division in 1966 and remained for 33 and a half years until his retirement on April 8, 1998. Gary was awarded the 20 years Long Service and good conduct Medal in 1985 with its 25 year Bar in 1990, 30 year Bar in 1995 and the 25 year Long Service Medal by the province of Nova Scotia. He joined The Royal Canadian Legion at the Pugwash Branch # 6 in 1977 before transferring to Sheet Harbour Branch # 058 in 1983 where he was awarded the 60th Legion Diamond Jubilee Medal and served as 2nd vice President for a 2 year term. He transferred to the Truro Branch # 026 in 1985. As of 2015, he has 38 years of service. Submitted independently BOLLONG, Willian Frederick “Fred” SPECIAL DUTY AREA / PEACETIME Fred was born in 1931 in Pugwash, Nova Scotia. He served in the Air Force as a maintenance and weapon tech in Special Duty Areas and in Peacetime. He served in St. Jean, Québec; CFB Summerside; Zweibrücken, Germany; Greenwood, NS; Comox, BC and Cornwallace, NS. He received the Canadian Forces Long Service Medal with 2 Rosettes and the Special Service Medal (NATO). He was a member of the Legion Branches # 098, # 104 and # 060 for 30 years before he passed away in 2011. Submitted by the Peace Branch # 060 of The Royal Canadian Legion BOND, Thomas W. WWII Thomas was born in Port Felix, Nova Scotia in 1917 and was the son of Larry Bond and Marguerite Pellerine. He served in the Second World War.
